Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center: booth rentals and exhibitor notes

South Boston Seaport venue, formerly the BCEC, with 516,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space and 62 loading bays.

At a glance

The Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center, formerly the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), keeps the same 415 Summer Street address, and the MCCA is the exclusive provider of booth electrical and internet. ConventionVendor.com rents booth technology for Boston shows and delivers it for move-in, ready to plug into the power and wired drops you order from the MCCA.

Exhibiting at Menino Convention Center

The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was renamed in 2025 to honor former Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and Signature Boston now abbreviates it MCEC. The building and its address are the same: a Rafael Viñoly design (with HNTB) in the South Boston Seaport, next to the Lawn on D and about 2.9 miles from Logan Airport. Halls A, B and C form 516,000 square feet of contiguous, virtually column-free exhibit space, with 82 meeting rooms and a 40,020-square-foot ballroom overlooking the Seaport.

Seafood Expo North America in March and PAX East in the spring are among the shows held here. Freight access is built in, with 62 loading bays, five elephant doors that let large vehicles drive straight onto the exhibit floor, and on-site marshalling and boneyard space. The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority also runs the Hynes Convention Center in Back Bay, so double-check which building your show is in when booking travel and deliveries.

Facts checked October 15, 2026 against the sources listed below. Schedules and providers can change from show to show; your exhibitor manual has the final word.

Power, internet, and Wi-Fi

  • The MCCA is the exclusive provider of booth electrical, telephone and internet, and JCALPRO is the exclusive rigging vendor, so choose a rigging package when you order overhead power.
  • Wired Ethernet drops carry at least 1 Gbps, with managed, VLAN and direct fiber options. Exhibitors distribute their own internet cables inside the booth, using GSC labor or a third-party I&D team, and may bring their own hub or switch.
  • We found no published MCCA rule against exhibitor hotspots, but the network terms ask exhibitors to avoid interfering with other users or disrupting MCCA networks. Check your exhibitor manual for show-level wireless rules.
  • Free Wi-Fi covers the building, including the expo halls, but the MCCA describes it as meant for casual use only. Our equipment runs on the MCCA power and wired drop you order, and offline lead capture covers any gaps.

Move-in and delivery

  • Exhibitors check in at the GSC's marshalling lot trailer (or the South Parking Lot if directed), then badge in at Southwest Badging; MCCA Public Safety credentials everyone.
  • All freight goes through the loading dock. Only one hand-carry item, in one trip, is allowed through other entrances, including the Westin skybridge.
  • You may unload a vehicle up to 24 feet with hand trucks, but forklifts and pallet jacks are for contractors, and loading-dock parking passes allow 20 minutes. Show management and the GSC set each event's schedule.
  • We deliver your rentals through the dock on your move-in dates. If your show requires an exhibitor-appointed contractor form, add ConventionVendor.com to it.

What exhibitors rent at Menino Convention Center

Before you exhibit at Menino Convention Center

  • Update shipping labels, travel instructions and badge pickup notes to the new name; the address is still 415 Summer Street.
  • Decide who will run the internet cable inside your booth, since that falls to exhibitors, their GSC labor or an I&D team.
  • Hanging signs and ground-supported truss go only through JCALPRO.
  • Do not try to bring a second load through the front doors or the Westin skybridge; everything beyond one hand-carry item goes through the dock.
  • Confirm your show is at the Menino center and not the Hynes, the MCCA's other Boston venue.

Schedules, deadlines, and service providers can change from show to show. Always confirm details in your show's exhibitor manual. Our exhibitor timeline lists what to order and when.

Menino Convention Center FAQ

Is the Menino Convention Center the same as the BCEC?

Yes. The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was renamed the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in 2025, and the address is still 415 Summer Street. Some venue documents and web addresses still use BCEC.

Who provides booth internet at the Menino Convention Center?

The MCCA is the exclusive provider of internet, telephone and electrical services. Wired drops are ordered from the MCCA, and exhibitors run the cable within their own booth using GSC labor or an I&D team. Check your exhibitor manual for deadlines and any wireless rules.

How many hand-carry items are allowed at the Menino Convention Center?

One item, in one trip, through entrances other than the loading dock, and the rule also applies at the Westin skybridge. Anything more must go through the dock. Your show's general service contractor can explain freight options.
