Show Wi-Fi, Hotspots, and Connectivity
Cellular hotspots, routers, and network gear for show offices, hotel suites, off-site events, and booths where the venue and show allow them.
At a glance
Many convention centers restrict personal Wi-Fi hotspots on the show floor and sell booth internet through an exclusive provider, so check your exhibitor manual first. Where hotspots are allowed, and for show offices, hotel suites, and off-site events, ConventionVendor.com rents cellular hotspots, routers, and network gear, and helps you plan around the venue's rules.
Know the venue's rules before you plan connectivity
Wi-Fi is the most rule-bound part of booth technology. Many large venues sell internet through an in-house or exclusive provider, and some prohibit exhibitor hotspots and access points because they interfere with the venue's network. Breaking those rules can mean disconnection without a refund.
That does not make hotspots useless. They are the simplest connection for show offices where allowed, hotel hospitality suites, off-site customer events, team housing, and as a backup for payment or lead apps when the rules permit.
We help you sort out which connection fits each place you need one. Our convention center pages summarize each venue's published Wi-Fi rules, with links to the sources.
| Booth demo or payments | Wired drop from the venue's provider |
|---|---|
| Lead capture | App offline mode, venue Wi-Fi, or wired drop |
| Show office | Venue line, or hotspots where permitted |
| Hotel suite or off-site event | Hotspots or a small rented network |
| Backup | A hotspot where rules allow, or offline-capable apps |

Hotspots and exclusive internet providers
Read the internet section of your exhibitor manual and the venue's technology page. Look for phrases like exclusive provider, wireless access points prohibited, and interference. Some venues allow an access point only with a waiver and a dedicated wired line.
For anything mission-critical in the booth, such as a live demo or payment processing, a wired drop from the venue is usually the most reliable choice. Offline-capable apps are a good second layer.
Outside the exhibit hall, hotspots solve a lot: hotel hospitality suites, client dinners, team housing, and off-site events where no network exists.

Frequently asked questions
Are Wi-Fi hotspots allowed at convention centers?
It depends on the venue and the show. Some venues prohibit personal hotspots and wireless access points on the show floor, others allow them with limits, and shows can add their own rules. Check your exhibitor manual and our venue notes before you rely on one.
What should we use instead of a hotspot in the booth?
A wired internet line from the venue's provider is the usual choice for demos and payments. For lead capture, many apps work offline and sync when a connection is available.
Can we use a router on the venue's wired line?
Many venues allow a wired router on a dedicated line, but often not a wireless access point. Confirm with the venue's technology provider, and we can supply wired networking gear that fits their rules.
Do hotspots work inside large exhibit halls?
Cellular coverage varies by hall and gets crowded during busy show hours. Where hotspots are allowed, choosing a carrier that works well inside that venue matters, and a backup plan is wise.
